The Ark

The Church had designated that the interior of the new classroom building would be themed like Noah’s Ark.  Per the Pastor, “Children are 25% of our population, and 100% of our future”.  As such, the interior was to give the children an environment that shows that the Bible is real.

The over-riding design challenge was how to make a total, convincing environment, without its feeling “fake”, and within a reasonable budget.  Other challenges included designing appropriate lighting (since Noah did not have electricity), incorporating fire resistant materials as required by code, and securement of animatronic animals.  The exterior of the building is designed similar to the other buildings on campus for continuity and unity.
